Sales Tax Calculator
Sales tax calculators work for GST (India), VAT (Europe, UK), HST (Canada) and any other percentage-based consumption tax. Enter the pre-tax price and the applicable rate to see the exact tax amount and the final total.
GST in India is 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% or 28%.
How to calculate sales tax
The tax amount is simply the price multiplied by the rate divided by 100. The total is the sum of the two. If you already know the total and want to find the pre-tax price, divide the total by (1 + rate/100).
Tax = Price x Rate / 100 | Total = Price + TaxFrequently asked questions
How do I calculate the pre-tax price from the total?
Divide the total by (1 + rate/100). For example, if the total is 11,800 at 18% GST, the pre-tax price is 11,800 / 1.18 = 10,000.
What are the GST rates in India?
India's GST has four main slabs: 5% (essential goods), 12% (standard goods), 18% (most goods and services) and 28% (luxury goods). Some items are exempt (0%).
